![]() Quote from: Bregalad on November 09, 2013, 06:58:04 AM Well, I hope that helps out a bit, or at least leaves room for more discussion. Again, I haven't played much of the SNES/PS1 version, so if that version's translation butchers any of the plot, I wouldn't know. There's a lot of political in-fighting and other stuff going on in the background while Denam and company are going around beating the shit out of condescending nobles. The story is kind of vague in this game to account for the three different paths you can take. This worked the same way with Arazlam in FFT.ħ. It's basically Warren telling you about the events of the game after they've already happened. The Warren Report works like a frame story. Again, the Xenobians are hiding their true purpose for being in Valeria. Obviously, a lot of those people are in your party. He's hunted by the elite, but he has a substantial following of people who know his real cause and respect it. Denam is seen as more of a rebel leader than an outlaw. Also, the Walister, Galgastani, and Bakram are more political factions than ethnic factions.Ĥ. They're all based on classes, not allegiances. You can blame the average SNES cart's low memory capacity for the generic, palette-swapped sprites on everyone. Truth be told, they're actually doing more than serving Ronwey, but explaining that would be a major spoiler.ģ. This is why they aren't around, but have some minor communication with the party. The Xenobians get assigned different tasks than Denam's party. ![]() And the one paying them after the rescue is Duke Ronwey himself.Ģ. The Xenobian Knights came to Valeria because they were exiled (or so you are originally told), not because they were hired by anyone. Be aware, though, that I've only finished the PSP version of the game, which I don't think changes the gist of the story in any way, but it does have a lot of translation differences.ġ. Each of my points will be in conjunction to your questions. Okay, I'll try and explain some things to you. Is it me who is stupid or this story is, while being very well told, does make few sense ? Or is it the translation patch ?Īlso PLEASE don't spoil me the rest of the game (past what I mentioned). Bad new for Hero, I guess Cannopus is his very last friend on the world. ![]() Then all of sudden, your sister Kachua, which has always been on your side despite the fact that almost everyone else wants to kill you, gets sudently angry and quit your group, for absolutely no reason. How can he communicate this info to you in the 1st place ? Before we could imagine he would write letters to Canopus or something, but now, how can he say he's himself missing ? Then, you learn from Warren in his report that they went missing, including Warren himself. I can understand Canopus eventually got friend with the hero (as a proof he didn't kill you and stayed on you side), but the other ones you barely used them one day (and you probably forgot to pay them) so they're definitely not friends. How are they friends in the 1st place ? They were just looking for money, the fact they're the only ones which aren't your enemies at a point in the game does apparently make them automatically friends. You learn that your Zenobian "friends" are in a city I've forgotten it's name. More surprisingly Canopus, who is stronger than you and who is looking for money, keeps on your side. Much much later in the game, you are an outlaw and everyone wants to kill you to get a fee, but apparently your teammates and the shop keepers don't. ![]() How can them be considered different ethnies in the 1st place ? However, physically they are absolutely identical (the game just have several generic sprites), and they speak the same language. The game revovles around a war of different "ethnies", Walastians and Bramastians. How can Warren even make reports when he's physically evaporated ? Warren remains only in the "Warren's report" but story-wise he's gone. Our heroes are supposedly orphans and very poor, how did they manage to hire 5 top quality mercenaries to rescute this Duke guy ?!Īfter they rescue Duke, 4 of the mercenaries mysteriously volatilize and only Canopus remain. I'm right now doing a play through Tactics Ogre, and although it looked like an amazing game at first, I am a bit stunned by some parts of it's story (I am also stunned about some parts of it's gameplay but that's another story).įirst, at the very begining of the game, our hero and his friends meets a group of Zenobian mercenaries, seeking for work in exchange of money of course.
